Aloysius Pereira, MD
Medical Oncology
Background
I specialized in hematology and oncology because I knew that advances in research in cancer would mean that I would have to continually update my knowledge and change the way we treat patients as new medications become available. I find this intellectually stimulating.
I joined the Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group because it is the premier medical group in our area, with nearly 1000 physicians from various specialties. We use the most advanced electronic medical record, HealthConnect, to integrate all the services we provide and your medical information, including images of your x-rays and scans, is available to all your doctors wherever you visit them.
Roles and Responsibilities
I am currently the chief of hematology-oncology for Northern Virginia. I appreciate the confidence that my colleagues and senior leadership have in me. I continue to spend at least 80% of my time in direct patient care and about 20% of my time doing administrative work.
