Chanika holds a Master of Public Administration from Old Dominion University, a Bachelor’s Degree in English from Johnson C. Smith University, and a Certified Research Administrator (CRA). Chanika joined MAPRI, shortly after its inception, in 2011. She began as the Senior Grant & Contract Administrator until earning the promotion to Senior Manager of Research Administration in 2016. Later, in 2019, Chanika was promoted to Director of Research Operations and joined our MAPRI Leadership Team. As of June 2022, she is now the Senior Director of Mid-Atlantic Permanente Research Institute (MAPRI).
As the Senior Director, Chanika has direct oversight of research operations and research management, including a supervisory component of all MAPRI Directors. In this role, Chanika is the primary liaison between MAPRI management and the Associate Medical Director of Research in day-to-day operations. In addition, she manages MAPRI’s departmental budgets and directly manages the Research Accounting, Research Administration, and Research Support teams, respectively. Among other responsibilities, Chanika is a member of MAPRI’s Leadership Team and serves as the Research Privacy Officer for Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group.
