As the Director of Research Operations, Chanika oversees the administrative and operational activities within MAPRI and serves as a member of the MAPRI Leadership Team. Her areas of responsibility include departmental budget approvals, financial management, management of grants and contracts, research project support management, human resources management, and program development.
Chanika is also the Research Privacy Officer for Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group. In this role, she is responsible for conducting breach risk assessments and collaborating with the KPMAS Privacy and Security officer in providing all notifications regarding the impermissible use and/or disclosure of PHI as necessary. Chanika collaborates with clinical and research investigators, the Institutional Review Board (IRB), various MAPMG departments (e.g., Legal, Compliance, Diagnostic Services, Finance, Accounting, Quality, Human Resources, etc.), and key Kaiser Permanente entities outside of MAPRI, including Kaiser Foundation Research Institute (KFRI), regional research departments, and KPMAS Community Health.
Chanika holds a Master of Public Administration from Old Dominion University, Bachelor’s Degree in English from Johnson C. Smith University, and is a Certified Research Administrator (CRA).
