Mahrukh Hussain, MD

Medical Oncology

Background

I joined the Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group because I like the model of providing comprehensive care with the ‘one stop shop’ idea; I like having access to medical records and being able to keep up-to-date with my patients’ health care. I like having contacts with all the providers involved in the care of my patients.

My interest in medicine began in college as I began to understand the biology of the human body and how things function and work. When I was able to put my knowledge in to the care of patients, it became even more exciting and challenging. It is wonderful to be able to make people well.

I like being a physician because I have the opportunity to heal, take away pain and worry, and bring out a smile. I like it more when my patients’ hopes and dreams about wellness comes true.

It is important that my patients know I always have a positive attitude towards everything I do and that I bring this with me to my practice. Even in the toughest of situations, I never give up without a fight, and I like to encourage my patients to do it, too. I believe in the motto “You only live once and life is too precious to waste on negativity”.

I have a special clinical interest in lifestyle changes that help in maintaining wellness and allowing treatments to proceed smoothly.

I look forward to partnering with you on taking care of the WHOLE YOU. To me, you are not a disease; you are the person who is going to make me smile when I have had a chance to help you.

I look forward to our partnership and appreciate the trust and faith you put into me as we start this journey together.
