Role
After joining MAPRI in 2019 as a Clinical Research Nurse, Dr. Charmaine McKie was promoted to Clinical Trials Research Nurse Manager in 2011 and has since been instrumental in program development. A strong commitment to high-quality research, collaborative efforts, and dedicated mentorship has marked her leadership. Under her guidance, the clinical trials team exceeded the 2024 NRG Oncology patient enrollment benchmark, achieved the milestone of enrolling the first patient worldwide, and positioned MAPRI as the top U.S. enroller for a crucial sickle-cell disease trial. Charmaine further enhanced efficiency by streamlining internal quality assurance processes and serving as a vital mentor to her team.
As Associate Director of Clinical Trials, Charmaine provides general supervision for MAPRI research nurse management and leads the Complex Care, Surgical, and Oncology Nurse Navigator, and Clinical Trials Programs. Her comprehensive oversight will include managing all clinical trials-related audit requests, ensuring compliance with auditing requirements, and leading regional audits for KPMAS. She will also serve as a key liaison for Principal Investigators, research teams, and clinical trial sponsors, while managing the operational aspects of clinical research studies. Charmaine holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing (PhD) from The Catholic University of America School of Nursing and is a Registered Nurse (RN) in the District of Columbia and Maryland.
