Complex Care Research Nurse
Evelyn McKinney, RN, BSN is a Complex Care Research Nurse (CCRN) with the Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group (MAPMG). In 2009, she joined Kaiser Permanente, where she worked for 7 years as a clinical staff nurse in Adult medicine, Largo. As a clinical nurse, she was part of a UBT (Unit Based Team) in which she helped to create uniform material supply closets organized by expiration date and with easy access to materials, with a goal to prevent waste. Prior to KP, Evelyn worked in acute settings under different disciplines, namely ICU, CCU, Tele, Orthopedic and Psych. She join the Complex Care Research Program in March of 2017. This is a program with a dedicated healthcare team that consist of four physicians, two research nurses, two case managers and two social workers. As a CCRN, Evelyn makes extensive outreach calls to patients. She closely monitors, supports and coordinates the medical needs of patients with complex health and social issues, with a goal to improve their overall health and quality of life. As part of research program, Evelyn conducts patient surveys. The research aspect of the program is to evaluate how care is delivered through this model for patients with complex health needs. She obtained her BSN in nursing from Chamberlain School of Nursing.
